This Is How I Kept Myself Safe From Rapists and Thieves

Living in constant fear changes how you move, think, and sleep. For a long time, I felt unsafe especially when walking alone, coming home late, or even sleeping at night.

I had heard too many stories of people attacked by thieves or assaulted when they least expected it. I told myself to be careful, but deep down, fear followed me everywhere. I did the normal things people advise.

I avoided dark paths, kept my phone hidden, and stayed alert. Still, I felt exposed. There were moments when I sensed danger nearby strange movements, people watching too closely, or footsteps behind me.

My heart would race, and sometimes I froze, not knowing what to do next.
One night changed everything. I was followed while walking home. I could feel it clearly. My body became weak with fear.
