PSG Team Bus Targeted in Nighttime Attack Following Tense Bilbao Draw

The Paris Saint-Germain team bus was struck by stones outside the squad’s hotel in the early hours of Thursday morning, following a tense Champions League stalemate with Athletic Bilbao, a source close to the French club confirmed to AFP.
No players or staff were on board at the time of the incident, with the bus parked and unoccupied. According to local media reports, the attack left two visible cracks in the vehicle’s exterior. Authorities in Bilbao arrested two individuals in connection with the assault.
Despite the disturbance, the PSG traveling party was able to depart without delay for the city’s airport on Thursday morning, catching their scheduled flight back to Paris.
The club is now weighing its legal options and is expected to file a formal complaint over what it considers a serious security breach.
The incident cast a shadow over what had been a disciplined, if underwhelming, sporting performance the night before. On Wednesday, the reigning European champions were held to a 0-0 draw away at Bilbao, a result that leaves PSG third in the expansive 36-team qualifying league table. Athletic Bilbao sit 28th.
Local police have launched an investigation into the attack, which has raised concerns over safety protocols for visiting teams. No injuries were reported.
