“Touch My Property Again and You’ll See” — A Businessman Narrates His Battle With Envious Rivals

For years, Mombasa businessman Daniel Mwangi believed that hard work alone was the key to success. He owned a hardware shop in Kisauni, built from the ground up with sweat, discipline, and sacrifice. Daniel had worked long nights, skipped social events, and invested everything into growing his dream.

His shop had become known for fair prices, reliable service, and trust — something that not everyone around him celebrated. As his business grew, so did the whispers, the jealousy, and the eyes that watched every move he made. Daniel thought it was just normal competition, the kind any businessman faces, but he had no idea that some of the people smiling at him were the same ones plotting to bring him down.

The attacks began quietly. One morning, he found scratches on his store shutters. Another day, he discovered someone had poured dirty water at the entrance. Within weeks, bags of cement went missing, customers complained of being misled by people posing as his staff, and suppliers began receiving false calls claiming Daniel no longer needed deliveries.

Things grew worse when one night, he heard loud banging outside his house. When he rushed out, he saw two young men running off after throwing stones at his gate, leaving behind a warning scribbled on the wall: “Back off or lose everything.” Fear crept into his life. His wife, Beatrice, couldn’t sleep.
