Breaking: 2025 KCSE Results Set for Official Release on Friday

The long wait for nearly one million students and their families is nearly over. The Ministry of Education has confirmed that the results for the crucial 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination will be officially released tomorrow, Friday, January 9.

Cabinet Secretary for Education, Julius Ogamba, is scheduled to make the formal announcement in Eldoret at 9:30 a.m., upholding the traditional January release timeline.

This year’s examination cycle saw a staggering 996,000 candidates sit for the tests, which ran continuously for five weeks from October 21 to November 21, 2025. The results are a pivotal determinant for students’ transitions to universities, colleges, and other tertiary institutions.

Portal Active, But Results Under Lock

In preparation for the massive traffic expected post-release, the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has already activated its official online results portal. However, the portal currently carries a clear notice: the results can only be accessed after the Ministry makes them public tomorrow.

Officials have described this early activation as a standard technical procedure to ensure the system is robust and fully functional, preventing crashes when hundreds of thousands of users log in simultaneously.

CS Ogamba Cracks Down on Fake News

The lead-up to the release has been marred by misinformation. Over the weekend, CS Ogamba was forced to publicly dismiss rampant claims on social media that the results had already been secretly released.

“Treat such fake and misleading news with the contempt it deserves,” Ogamba stated firmly on Saturday, January 3, flagging a fraudulent post that had caused unnecessary anxiety among candidates and parents.

This clarification aligned with his earlier assurance given during the Omogusii Cultural Festival in December, where he had initially indicated results would be out within the first two weeks of that month. He later clarified the timeline, stating, “Traditionally, the KCSE examinations are normally announced in January, and we are keeping it to that tradition.”

How to Access Results

Once announced, candidates will be able to view their provisional results by visiting the KNEC portal and entering their unique index number and examination year (2025).

All stakeholders are advised to rely only on the official Ministry of Education and KNEC channels for information to avoid falling prey to scams or false news.

The nation now turns its eyes to Eldoret, awaiting the results that will shape the next chapter for the Class of 2025.
