Dozens Injured After Easy Coach Bus Collides with Trailer on Busy Nairobi-Nakuru Highway

At least twenty-eight people were injured, twelve critically, after a passenger bus collided with a trailer along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway early Monday morning. The grisly accident occurred in the Salgaa area, a location historically prone to road incidents.

The bus, operated by Easy Coach Ltd, was traveling from Nairobi to Kisumu when it rammed into the trailer. Emergency crews, including a multi-agency team and the Kenya Red Cross, responded swiftly to the scene. Sixteen victims received immediate medical attention on-site, while twelve others in critical condition were rushed to nearby hospitals for urgent treatment.

Following rescue operations, the wreckage was towed to Kaptembwo Police Station for further inspection as authorities work to determine the exact cause of the crash. Police have officially launched an investigation into the incident.

Salgaa has long been identified as a black spot for road accidents, with previous tragedies prompting calls for improved road safety measures. This latest collision has again raised concerns over highway safety along one of Kenya’s busiest transport corridors.
