VIDEO: CCTV Footage Shows the Moment Climax Bus Rammed into Jirongo’s car

Newly surfaced CCTV footage has painted a chilling, minute-by-minute timeline of the final moments of former Lugari Member of Parliament Cyrus Jirongo, who died in a horrific head-on collision along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway.
The accident, which occurred in the early hours of December 13, 2025, is shown to have been a violent and instantaneous event, followed by a prolonged period before help arrived.
The Final Detour
The silent narrative begins at 2:18 a.m. The footage, captured from a petrol station along the highway, shows Jirongo’s white saloon car entering the station premises from the Nairobi direction. In a move that now raises haunting questions, the former minister drives slightly past the fuel pumps but does not stop to refuel. Within a mere 34 seconds, he executes a swift U-turn and exits, rejoining the highway—this time heading back towards Nairobi.
A Collision at 2:19
What happened next unfolded with brutal speed. At exactly 2:19 a.m., just moments after Jirongo re-entered the highway, a 65-seater bus travelling at high speed towards Nakuru with its headlights fully on appears on the station’s CCTV. In a devastating sequence, the bus rams head-on into Jirongo’s car.
The impact was catastrophic. The bus dragged the saloon car approximately 25 metres along the tarmac, causing it to spin violently before coming to rest on the left-hand side of the road leading to Nakuru. Officials confirmed the collision killed Jirongo instantly.
The Aftermath: Smoke and Silence
In the immediate aftermath, smoke is seen billowing from the wreckage of Jirongo’s vehicle. The footage reveals a troubling pause in response. One minute after the crash, at 2:20 a.m., another vehicle heading towards Nairobi passes the scene, its headlights momentarily illuminating the tangled wreck. However, no one is seen alighting from the bus to check on the situation.
It is not until some time later that a single person is seen approaching the scene. A crowd only begins to gather at approximately 2:48 a.m.—nearly 49 minutes after the fatal impact. It remains unclear how long the deceased remained in the vehicle before being retrieved.
As the night wore on, the blockage caused significant traffic disruption, with the CCTV later showing vehicles attempting to use alternative routes and lining up as police worked to clear the wreckage.
Investigations Continue
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) are actively piecing together Jirongo’s final movements. A key line of inquiry surrounds whether he was alone in the vehicle during the accident. The haunting footage of his abrupt U-turn at the petrol station, without refuelling, adds a layer of mystery to his last journey.
The release of this footage has moved the story beyond initial reports, providing a stark, visual account of the tragedy that has left the nation seeking answers amidst its grief.
