I Returned From Abroad Unannounced and Found a Child Calling Another Man Daddy

My name is Daniel Mwangi, and I am originally from Nyeri, Kenya, though for the last seven years I worked abroad in Doha, Qatar, as a construction supervisor. I left Kenya full of hope, determined to build a better future for my wife Lucy Wanjiku and our unborn child. When I left, Lucy was five months pregnant. We spoke every day, shared plans, and dreamed of the day I would return home permanently. I trusted her completely. Distance was hard, but I believed our love was strong enough to survive it.
Life abroad was not easy. Long hours, extreme heat, and loneliness tested me daily. Still, I pushed on because every end month I sent money home to Lucy in Kasarani, Nairobi, where we had rented a small but decent apartment. She told me our son had been born safely and named him Ethan Mwangi. She sent photos and short videos. I watched Ethan grow on a screen, step by step, missing birthdays, first words, and first steps. I promised myself that one day I would surprise them by coming home unannounced.
