I Was Losing Money Every Day Until I Was Told Who Was Secretly Blocking My Success

My name is Michael Njoroge, and I live in Kikuyu, Kiambu County, just along Waiyaki Way. I run a small but busy hardware shop in Kikuyu Town, selling cement, iron sheets, and plumbing materials. For years, my business supported my family comfortably. I paid school fees on time, saved a little, and even helped relatives when they needed support. Then suddenly, everything changed—and not in a way I could explain.

It started quietly. Every day, money would come in, but by evening it was gone. Sales were happening, yet profits were disappearing. Suppliers demanded payments sooner than usual. Unexpected expenses kept coming up—repairs, penalties, small losses that added up. I could open the shop with hope in the morning and close it in stress by evening. My wife Lucy Njoroge noticed I had become quiet and restless. I stopped sleeping well.

At first, I blamed business competition. New shops had opened nearby. I reduced prices, added stock, and even extended opening hours. Nothing worked. Instead, things got worse. Some customers would enter my shop, ask many questions, then leave without buying anything. Others promised to return and never did. I felt like something was pushing people away. Still, I told myself, “This is normal business struggle.”
