I Found My Husband Hiding in His Girlfriend’s House After He Lied He Went to His Parents in the Village

I never thought I would experience a betrayal so close to home. My husband, Mark Otieno, had always seemed ordinary—a quiet man, diligent at work, loving with our children. We lived in Karen, Nairobi, in a modest but comfortable house. I trusted him with my life. Or at least, I thought I did.

It all began on a Friday afternoon. Mark told me he was going to his parents’ home in Bungoma County to help with some farm work and to attend a family meeting. I didn’t question it. He had always been close to his parents and often traveled to the village without me. That evening, as I prepared dinner, a strange feeling settled in my chest—a weight I couldn’t explain. Something felt off.

As the night grew, Mark’s phone remained off. Calls and texts went unanswered. Usually, he called me from the road or the bus, just to say he was on schedule. This time, silence. I tried not to panic. “Maybe he lost signal,” I told myself. But the unease grew. My heart raced. I felt an urge I couldn’t ignore: I had to know where he really was.
