Drama as Bees Led Shopkeeper to Catch Thieves Who Stole Her Shop Overnight, Ksh 2.3M Recovered

Residents of Mamboleo estate in Kisumu County were left in shock after a dramatic early-morning incident where a swarm of bees led a shopkeeper to the very people who had stolen her money and goods worth Ksh 2.3 million. What began as a heartbreaking loss turned into a miracle-like recovery that many residents are still struggling to explain.

The incident happened on Tuesday morning when 42-year-old shop owner Agnes Achieng’ opened her hardware shop and found the doors broken, shelves empty, and her safe missing. The thieves had taken cash, electronics, construction tools, and stock meant for the festive season. Neighbours said the shop was intact the previous night, and no one heard any unusual noise. Agnes collapsed in tears, screaming that her life savings were gone.

“I have worked for 12 years to build this business,” she cried. “Everything I had was inside that shop. I didn’t even know where to start.” Residents gathered as police were called, but many believed the chances of recovering the stolen items were very slim. The thieves had left no clear footprints, and CCTV cameras in the area were mysteriously offline.
