Family Seeks Justice After Mentally Challenged Girl Sexually Assaulted by  a Senior Goverment Official Employee in Kuresoi

A family in Kuresoi is enduring unimaginable pain after their mentally challenged daughter was sexually abused by a man allegedly linked to a prominent government official in the South Rift region. The incident has left the young girl traumatized, out of school, and the family living in fear.

According to Nyumba Kumi elder Boniface Rono, who spoke at Kapsing’oi in Kiptororo Ward, the assault occurred when the girl was in Grade Six. Since then, the family says they have received no support or assistance, while the accused has repeatedly threatened them to prevent the case from advancing.

“My girl is traumatized. She is no longer attending school, and we are at a loss about what to do,” the victim’s mother told local sources. She has demanded that the accused be apprehended and charged in a court of law to ensure justice for her innocent daughter.

The situation is further compounded by the birth of a child resulting from the assault. Rop Korir, an official from World Vision, highlighted the lasting impact on the girl’s future. “The family needs justice as she lost the opportunity to continue schooling to nurse the baby,” Korir stated.

Community elders and local advocates are now calling for urgent intervention from law enforcement and child protection agencies to ensure the safety of the family and to bring the perpetrator to justice.

This case highlights ongoing vulnerabilities faced by children with disabilities and the urgent need for stronger protective measures and accountability in rural communities.
