Actress Mercy Adoyo Accused of Scalding Husband with Hot Water After Marital Row

A disturbing domestic incident involving a local actress has sent shockwaves through Busia County and Kenya’s creative community. Mercy Adoyo, a nurse and actress known for her role in Enjekho Production, is alleged to have poured hot water on her sleeping husband, Ishmael, following a domestic disagreement.

According to widely circulated reports on social media especially Tik Tok and Facebook , the couple had argued earlier in the evening. After the argument had subsided and Ishmael, a TransCounty Shuttle Sacco driver along the Kisumu-Busia route, had fallen asleep, the alleged attack occurred later that night. The husband sustained serious burn injuries and is currently admitted at Brimaxa Hospital in Busia, where he is undergoing treatment.

Adding a layer of controversy to the case, further reports claim that after the incident, Adoyo went to authorities and reported that her husband had assaulted her, even obtaining a P3 form a medical and police document used to record assault injuries before her injured husband could report the attack on himself.

Adoyo is recognisable to many as the actress who plays Unya Matiriginya, the wife of Tonde’s character in the production. In a swift response to the allegations, Tonde, her colleague on screen, has publicly distanced himself from the “heinous act,” separating his professional relationship with Adoyo from the personal allegations she now faces.
