The problem started quietly. One morning we found beacons placed deep inside my mother’s land. By evening, word had spread that an “important man” in the village had claimed it as his own.
When we confronted him, he laughed it off and warned us to stop disturbing him. A few days later, police officers came to our home, telling us to stay away from the land until the matter was “resolved.”
Fear took over our household. My mother depended on that land for farming and income. Seeing her cry, thinking we could lose everything our late father left us, broke me.
Everyone knew this man money, connections, and influence. People advised us to keep quiet or accept a small payout. Fighting him physically or verbally would only make things worse.
What confused us most was that all our documents were genuine. Title, boundaries, witnesses everything was clear. Yet intimidation worked. The police visits continued. Threats came through phone calls.
The pressure was meant to exhaust us until we gave up. I knew anger would destroy us. I needed a calm but firm solution one that would protect my mother without putting us in danger.
