Prison Warden on the Run After Deadly Shooting Spree and killing his Seniors

A quiet Monday morning at Kiboga Prison in Uganda turned into a scene of horror and chaos when a prison warden allegedly turned his gun on his superiors, leaving three people dead before fleeing into the surrounding countryside.

The suspect, identified as Warder Anguyo Moses, badge number 13544, remains at large despite a massive manhunt launched by joint security forces. The weapon he used in the attack has since been recovered, but authorities are warning the public that he is considered armed and extremely dangerous.

According to preliminary police reports, the shooting spree unfolded around mid-morning on February 23, 2026, inside the prison premises. Witnesses describe a sudden eruption of gunfire that sent officers and civilians scrambling for cover.

Among the deceased are three individuals holding significant positions within the prison hierarchy:

· ASP Hope Catherine, the Deputy Officer in Charge
· POI Akishuri Bright, the Third in Command
· Ms. Ayebare Sarah, wife of the Officer in Charge

The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, though sources close to the investigation suggest there may have been underlying tensions between the suspect and his superiors. Investigators are currently piecing together his background, recent behavior, and any possible grievances that could have led to the violent outburst.

Security has been heightened across Kiboga District, with roadblocks set up and patrols intensified in nearby villages and trading centers. Local leaders have urged residents to remain calm but vigilant, and to report any suspicious activity immediately.

“We are doing everything possible to track down the suspect and bring him to justice,” a senior police official told reporters on condition of anonymity. “We urge anyone with information on his whereabouts to come forward.”

The prison, usually a symbol of law and order, now stands at the center of a grim investigation. Counseling services have been dispatched to support traumatized staff and inmates, many of whom witnessed the attack firsthand.

As night falls over Kiboga, the hunt continues — and a community waits anxiously for answers.
