Fear Grips Village After Family Claims They Are Under a Curse

Residents of a quiet village in Kakamega were left shaken after one family publicly claimed they were living under a curse.

For months, strange misfortunes had followed the Wekesa family. First, their maize crop failed despite good rains. Then their dairy cow fell ill and died unexpectedly. Weeks later, their eldest son was involved in a minor road accident while riding a motorbike.

“It felt like one problem after another,” says 52 year old Peter Wekesa. “We started asking ourselves hard questions.”

Whispers began spreading through the village. Some neighbours quietly speculated about jealousy. Others mentioned unresolved family disputes from years ago.

Soon, fear replaced gossip.

Sleepless nights and growing anxiety

Peter’s wife, Naomi, says the tension inside their home became unbearable.

“We could not sleep,” she recalls. “Every small sound at night made us panic.”

Their younger children became frightened after overhearing adults discuss curses and spiritual attacks. School performance dropped. Even visitors reduced.

“It was like people were afraid to be associated with us,” Naomi says.
