After losing her job last year, Nairobi lady shares how she made her first million in 2026 through selling videos to her fans online. She now owns two cars and started building her dream house.

Joyce Kemunto still remembers the day she lost her job in early 2025. The Nairobi-based office assistant had worked hard for years, but when the company downsized, she suddenly found herself unemployed and struggling to pay bills. For months she searched for another job without success, and the pressure of rent and daily expenses began to weigh heavily on her. It was during this difficult period that a close friend introduced her to an online platform called NairoTube, a place where content creators could upload and sell their videos directly to fans.
At first Joyce was unsure if it could really work, but she decided to give it a try using just her smartphone and internet connection. NairoTube allows creators to sell private video content that can only be viewed by people the creator shares it with, meaning the videos remain exclusive and cannot be recorded. Joyce started uploading simple lifestyle and motivational videos, and slowly began building an audience. Within weeks, people were purchasing her content, and the income started to grow faster than she ever expected.
What surprised her even more was NairoTube’s referral program. The platform rewards creators with Kes 700 for every new content creator they refer, plus a percentage of the sales those referrals make for a lifetime. Joyce began telling her friends and followers about the opportunity, and many of them joined through her link. Some days she referred up to ten creators, earning Kes 7,000 in a single day just from referrals alone. Combined with the money she made from selling her own videos, her income quickly grew into hundreds of thousands of shillings each month.
Today, just a year after starting, Joyce says her life has completely changed. In a good month she now earns over Kes 1 million, enough to buy two cars and begin building her dream home on the outskirts of Nairobi. Looking back, she says she cannot imagine how difficult life would have been if she had never discovered NairoTube. Joyce now encourages anyone with a smartphone and internet connection to take advantage of the platform, saying it gave her a second chance and proved that earning a living online is possible for ordinary Kenyans.
