“Nilifikiria Nimalize Bibi Yangu” KDF Soldier Shares Painful Moments After Meeting His Wife With Another Man

I am a KDF soldier based in Thika. For six months, I was away on duty, serving my country with pride and discipline. Every single day in the camp, I thought about my home, my wife, and the peaceful life I believed was waiting for me. When I finally got leave, my heart was full of excitement. I imagined her smile, the warm welcome, and the comfort of my own house.
But the day I reached home changed my life.
I opened my door quietly, hoping to surprise her. Instead, I was the one who was shocked. I found my wife with another man inside my house — my house. In that moment, my body started shaking. My heart pounded like a drum in battle. I felt anger, pain, and confusion all at once. I screamed. I did not even know what I was shouting. My mind went blank.
For a few minutes, I lost control of my thoughts. I even thought of ending my own life because the pain was too heavy. I felt betrayed, disrespected, and broken. But deep inside me, the soldier in me spoke. I remembered my training. I remembered my strength. I told myself, “No situation is bigger than your discipline.” Instead of destroying myself or anyone else, I made a decision. I cancelled my leave and went back to work.
After one week, my wife started calling and apologizing. She cried and begged. But to me, sorry was not enough to erase what I saw with my own eyes. Trust, once broken, is not easily repaired.
