Heavy Rainfall Coming, kenya’s Meteorological Department Warn

The coming week will bring a familiar split of sunshine and scattered showers across Kenya, this is according to the latest forecast from the Kenya Meteorological Department.
While most of the country is set for generally sunny and dry conditions, a few regions should keep an umbrella handy for occasional rainfall.
Residents in several counties can expect a mix of sun and clouds with a chance of afternoon showers. This includes the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, covering Nairobi, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka Nithi. Night temperatures here could dip to a chilly 7°C, with daytime highs around 29°C.
A similar pattern is forecast for the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley. Counties like Kisumu, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Kakamega, and West Pokot, among others, may see sunny mornings giving way to a slight chance of afternoon showers, particularly on Sunday and Monday.
For those in the South-eastern lowlands, including Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, and parts of Tana River county, Sunday is projected to bring some rainfall before clearing to sunny intervals. Meanwhile, the coastal counties of Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale are in for consistently sunny weather with warm days around 34°C.
The heat will be most intense in the north. The North-eastern counties of Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo are looking at a hot and sunny week, with maximum temperatures potentially reaching 38°C. The north-western region, including Turkana and Samburu, will also bake under sunny skies with similar high temperatures.
Throughout the forecast period, strong northeasterly to southeasterly winds exceeding 25 knots are expected over the Northwestern, Northeastern, South-eastern Lowlands, and the Coast. The weatherman advises residents in areas expecting rainfall to be prepared for the changing conditions as the week progresses.
