Chelsea have done it again. The club has sacked another head coach, this time Liam Rosenior, after only four months in charge. The decision comes following five straight defeats, and the Blues are back to square one.
Rosenior’s record makes for painful reading. In 23 games, he managed just 11 wins, along with 10 losses and 2 draws. His side scored 47 goals but let in 38. That kind of form was never going to be enough at a club like Chelsea, especially after such a rough run at the end.
The really wild part? Rosenior still had five years and eight months left on his six-year contract. Yes, you read that right. Chelsea gave him a massive deal, and now they’re reportedly looking at paying him around £24 million in compensation. That is a lot of money for a manager who only lasted a third of a season.
So who steps in now? For the rest of this campaign, Chelsea have turned to Calum McFarlane. The Under-21 coach will be interim boss until June. He already stepped in once before when Enzo Maresca left back in January, so he knows the setup. But this time, he’ll be in charge until the summer.
After that, Chelsea plan to start a proper search for a new manager ahead of the 2026/2027 season. The internal process is said to begin immediately. Whether they get it right this time is anyone’s guess. But one thing’s for sure – Chelsea’s way of doing things is never boring, and it’s rarely cheap.
