Government Orders Stop to Live Broadcast of Protest.

In a statement released on Wednesday 25th June by the communication authority’s Director General David Mugonyi stated that covering the protest is contrary to the constitution and section 461 of the Kenya information and communication act.

According to Mugonyi, the authority will have to take action against the stations that fails to adhere to the directive.

“The live Broadcast of the June 25th , 2025, demonstrations is contrary to articles 33(2) and 34(1) of the constitution of Kenya  and section 461 of the Kenya information and communication s act, 1998,”

This is therefore to direct all television and radio stations to stop any live coverage of the demonstrations forthwith. Failure to abide by this directive will result in regulatory action as stipulated in Kenya information and communication act,”

Protesters have taken to the streets in different parts of the country on Wednesday, 25th June to mark one year since the last year’s anti finance demonstrations which left several young Kenyans dead.

Speaking earlier today, the interior cabinet secretary Kipchumba Murkomen urged Kenyans to prioritize peace while demonstrating, he said that security agencies will remain committed to ensure all critical infrastructure are protected.
