Tanzanian songbird Zuchu has publicly called out the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for failing to pay her for a performance at the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) final held in Nairobi. The artist took to Instagram to share her frustration over the alleged payment delays, warning that she may pursue legal action if the issue remains unresolved.
Zuchu was among three East African artists—including Kenya’s Savara and Uganda’s Eddy Kenzo—who performed during the cultural showcase ahead of the highly anticipated final between Morocco and Madagascar on August 30, 2025. Despite delivering a well-received performance, the singer claims she has not received full payment as agreed.
In a detailed post, Zuchu expressed disappointment with CAF and its contracted agency, LEAP Creative Agency, citing unverified proof of payments and a lack of responsiveness from officials, including CEO Roshan Soomarshun.
“I have upheld my end of the agreement by delivering a performance that I dedicated myself fully to ensure it met the highest standards. It is highly disappointing to find that the same level of professionalism has not been extended in return,” Zuchu stated.
The artist emphasized the personal and professional sacrifices made to honor the commitment, including turning down other booked shows. She described the treatment as “unfair” and “completely unacceptable.”
Zuchu’s management team has reportedly been in constant communication with LEAP Agency, but efforts to resolve the payment issue have so far been fruitless. She has given CAF and its agents an ultimatum to settle the outstanding balance immediately or face further action.
“It is integral that the balance is settled immediately without any further delay or postponement; otherwise, I will have no choice but to pursue further action to recover the funds owed,” she said.
The 2020 AFRIMMA Emerging Artist winner concluded her message with a call for respect and fairness, urging CAF to honor the terms of their agreement promptly.
As of now, neither CAF nor LEAP Creative Agency has issued a public response to Zuchu’s allegations.
