A Night of Terror: Husband Axes Wife to Death in Pipeline, Assaults House Help in Ordeal Witnessed by Infant.

A one-year-old girl is now an orphan, and a family is shattered beyond repair, following a night of unimaginable horror inside a modest rental house in Kware, Pipeline estate. Susan Nabwire, a 27-year-old M-Pesa agent, was brutally murdered by her husband, a man sworn to protect her, in an attack so vicious it has left even seasoned investigators reeling.

The gruesome events unfolded in the early hours of August 13, 2025, and were witnessed by the couple’s young house help and their infant child, who now must grapple with a trauma that will last a lifetime.

According to a heart-wrenching account from the victim’s mother, Philice Makokha, the nightmare began when 44-year-old Cyprian Mukoye, a former police officer turned casual labourer, returned home in a foul mood. Fueled by alleged suspicions of his wife’s infidelity, he launched into a violent confrontation.

“They started arguing and he slapped Susan, demanding her cellphone,” Philice recounted, her voice heavy with grief. “He then threatened her that if she wouldn’t give him the M-Pesa PIN, he would kill her.”

Susan, showing immense courage in the face of danger, refused to relinquish her PIN. The altercation stretched deep into the night, with the house help watching in frozen fear. Cyprian’s behaviour grew increasingly bizarre; he allegedly went to the bedroom, undressed, took pictures of himself, and ordered his wife to do the same.

The situation escalated to a point of no return around 3 a.m. Cyprian woke up, went to the bathroom, and returned not with water, but with an axe.

In a blind rage, he struck his wife on the neck with the weapon. As she collapsed to the floor, bleeding and pleading for mercy, he continued his savage assault, ultimately decapitating her. The house help’s statement to the police, as relayed by the family, describes a scene from a horror film.

“He cut her with the axe on the neck and then on the head. Then he went and got a rope and started strangling her with it; he took a knife and started stabbing her near the eyes, saying he would kill her if he saw life in them,” Philice added.

Covered in his wife’s blood, Cyprian then turned his depravity on the terrified house help. He threatened to kill her if she refused his sexual advances and then raped her. As a final act of cold calculation, he locked her, his one-year-old child, and Susan’s lifeless body inside the house before fleeing into the night with their mobile phones, seemingly to delay the discovery of his crimes.

Police were later called to the residence and were forced to break down the door. Inside, they encountered a crime scene of profound disturbance. Susan’s body was recovered from under the bed, where Cyprian had shoved it in a feeble attempt to hide his atrocity. Her body now lies at the Mama Lucy mortuary, awaiting justice.

That justice may soon be served. On Saturday, police confirmed the apprehension of Cyprian Mukoye. He is currently detained at the Embakasi Police Station, awaiting arraignment in court.

But for Susan’s family, no conviction can truly heal the wounds. They are now left to cradle a one-year-old who will never know her mother’s love, forever haunted by the knowledge that her protector became her monster. The community in Pipeline remains in shock, a stark reminder that the most terrifying dangers can lie behind the most familiar doors.
