In a celebration marked by laughter, song, and prayer, Moses Mudavadi, son of Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, and Qillian Saiya, daughter of former General Service Unit (GSU) Commandant William Saiya, were united in marriage on Saturday, September 13. The traditional wedding took place at the Saiya family home in Malava, Kakamega County, drawing family, friends, government officials, and community members.
The ceremony was a vibrant affair, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the region. Prominent attendees included Principal Secretaries Beatrice Inyangala and Jane Imbunya, as well as Vihiga Woman Representative Beatrice Adagala, underscoring the event’s significance within political and social circles.
In a heartfelt statement following the wedding, PS Jane Imbunya shared her joy, drawing a poignant parallel to the biblical Garden of Eden. “I joined family, friends, and community to celebrate the pre-wedding of Prime Cabinet Secretary H.E. Musalia Mudavadi’s son and the daughter of former GSU Commandant William Saiya. The laughter, songs, and prayers in Kakamega felt like a promise: unity, hope, and love,” she said.
Imbunya added, “I was honoured to share: ‘In the Bible, marriage was made and ordained in the Garden of Eden. You have made a Garden of Eden here today.’ Qillian, may your life together be as fruitful and steadfast as that sacred garden.”
Qillian Saiya is the daughter of former nominated Senator Naomi Masitsa Shiyonga and William Saiya, adding a layer of notable family lineage to the union. The wedding is the latest in a series of high-profile family events for the Mudavadis. Nearly two years ago, Moses’ sister, Maryanne Mudavadi, wed Michael Nyaga, a renowned lawyer, in a glamorous ceremony at St. Austin Catholic Church in Nairobi. Maryanne, a Human Resource Manager with a degree in Psychology and a Master’s in Human Resource Management from the University of Sussex, continues to work for a leading bank in Kenya.
The marriage of Moses and Qillian not only symbolizes the union of two individuals but also brings together two influential families, each with deep roots in Kenyan public service and leadership. As the newlyweds embark on their journey together, the community and nation extend their warmest wishes for a life filled with love, prosperity, and unity.
