
Police in Machakos County are investigating an incident where fire broke out in one of Bishop Ndingi high school’s dormitories, where hundreds students were left stranded.
According to the report, the fire broke out early in the morning when students were attending their morning preps on Tuesday July 22nd, however no injuries or casualties were reported.
The incident was confirmed by the Mwala deputy county commissioner David Tegutwa, he further stated that property of unknown value which includes beds and students’ personal belongings was destroyed and approximately 150 students were left without accommodation.
The county commissioner however noted that security agency in collaboration with the school administration and Board of management have launched an investigation to determine the real course of the fire outbreak.
The school which is mixed day and boarding secondary school located near Mwala town Machakos county has a total of 287 students enrolled.
This has happened barely two weeks after the same incident occurred at Onjiko boys high school in Kisumu county on July 7th.
