Early morning patrol officers from Obama Police Station in Kayole Sub-County have recovered a large number of items believed to have been stolen from a church.
The officers were on a routine patrol in the Mwengenye Saika area when they spotted two men acting suspiciously. The two were walking along Dandora Bridge carrying several pieces of luggage.
When the men noticed the police officers approaching, they dropped everything they were carrying and ran away. The police were not able to catch them at the time.
After the suspects fled, the officers searched the abandoned items. They found different kinds of household goods and electronic equipment. They also discovered a metal bar that they believe was used to break into a building.
Preliminary investigations later showed that the recovered items had been stolen from the Full Gospel Mission Church. The church is located in the Mowlem Powerline area.
Police say investigations are still ongoing as they work to identify the two men who escaped. They are asking anyone with information that could help track down the suspects to come forward.
