DCI detectives in Nakuru are investigating an incident where a Catholic priest identified as Reverend John Maina was murdered under unclear circumstances.his lifeless body was discovered in Kikopey area along Nakuru-Nairobi highway within Gilgil constituency on Thursday 15th May.
His body was found approximately 50 meters from the Igwamiti Catholic where he served under the diocese of Nyahururu in Laikipia County.
According to the report by the detectives, the deceased body seemed to have been dumped at the location indicating that he might have been killed elsewhere.
The detectives further revealed that autopsy will provide full details that will assist in the investigation.
However the police revealed that it was hard for them to identify the body until the family members arrived at scene and confirmed his identity.
The body was transferred to St. Benedict’s mission hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem examination to establish the exact cause of his death.
According to various reports from verified media outlets, the deceased Reverend Maina had hosted the former Deputy president Rigathi Gachagwa barely two weeks ago.
