The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga has issued fresh demands to the government following the last year’s Gen-z Protest.
Speaking during the 62nd Madaraka day celebration in Homa bay county, the former Prime Minister demanded that families of those who were affected during the protest must be compensated.
He urged president Ruto to ensure that their is timely compensation to the victims.
Odinga was responding to the recent apology that was offered by president William Ruto, stating that it was a good gesture by the head of state to apologize but it’s just part of the journey towards reconciliation
Odinga who recently joined forces with the government after the signing of memorandum of understanding (MOU) between his party ODM and the ruling party UDA, in his speech he said that the move by the president will help the country mark an important chapter from last year’s protests
During the prayer breakfast, there were apologies from you and the speaker. But then there are issues of people who were injured should be compensated.
He further appealed to President Ruto not to allow the return of the provincial government system of administration, insisting that it would be backsliding on the gains made on devolution.
