TikToker Nabbed After Claiming Ruto Paid Him Millions to Kill MP.

In a plot twist that seems ripped from a political thriller, a Kenyan TikToker has been arrested after he sensationally claimed in a viral video that President William Ruto gave him millions to assassinate a member of parliament.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) confirmed the arrest of Roy Otieno Odhiambo, who had gone viral with a clip alleging he was on a state-funded mission to kill Embakasi East MP Babu Owino.

The Explosive Accusation That Broke the Internet

The saga began on October 20, when a video posted to Odhiambo’s TikTok account sent shockwaves across social media.

In the clip, the outspoken content creator claimed that President Ruto had personally given him KSh 3.5 million to eliminate the controversial legislator.

“He went on to say that the legislator’s life was in danger and urged Kenyans to protect him,” the DCI stated in a post on X.

The video spread like wildfire across TikTok and other platforms, drawing widespread alarm and speculation as it was reshared for days.

The timing added fuel to the fire, as it came just days after MP Babu Owino had himself alleged there were plots to attack him during the recent burial of ODM leader Raila Odinga.

The Manhunt and Arrest

After a ten-day investigation into the clip, which the DCI said “caused widespread public concern,” detectives tracked down Odhiambo to a hideout in Malindi. He was taken into custody on Friday, October 31.

The DCI has confirmed that the suspect has been processed and is pending arraignment. He is expected to be charged under the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act for the serious offense of publishing false information.

This high-profile arrest highlights the increasing scrutiny of online content in Kenya and the legal consequences of spreading dangerous misinformation.

As the suspect awaits his day in court, the nation is left to ponder the bizarre chain of events that started with a single TikTok video.
