For the longest time, I thought I was just unlucky in love. Every relationship I entered began beautifully and ended in financial disaster. Men I dated would start off stable, some even wealthy, but within months of getting close to me, their businesses would collapse, jobs would disappear, and debts would pile up.
At first, they laughed it off as bad timing. Later, resentment followed, and eventually, they left me blaming stress, failure, and shame. The pattern was too consistent to ignore. One boyfriend sold his car to survive. Another lost a family business that had lasted generations. One even accused me of draining his luck.
His words hurt deeply, but they planted a seed of fear in my heart. I began to wonder if I was cursed. I withdrew from relationships for a while, hoping the problem would disappear. It did not. Even male friends who helped me financially or partnered with me briefly would suddenly face setbacks.
